A sewer lining project in Homewood was a true partnership between Trenchless Innovations and its sister company, Reid & Pederson Drainage. While Trenchless Innovations provides sewer lining, Reid & Pederson provides sewer and drain cleaning as well as repair.
Reid & Pederson received an emergency call from a customer in Homewood that her sewer was backing up. The technician rodded her sewer and began pulling back clay mud on his cables. Usually, when this happens, it means there is a break somewhere in the line. A couple days later, the Reid team televised the sewer line, finding an old, unused and heavily cracked hammer tap tile cleanout under the deck that caused the nearby sewer pipe to collapse. The televising also showed other areas of cracked and missing pipe, possibly caused by tree root infiltration.
After review of the televising footage, a custom repair plan was prepared for the customer which included patch lining the sewer and then installing a new cleanout on the property. This is where Trenchless Innovations stepped in.
Access to the sewer line was tricky for the Trenchless team because an access point in the basement was inaccessible. Instead, the team lined the 6” clay tile sewer from an open hole, upstream about 40 feet and about 3 feet downstream. The team covered the old hammer trap cleanout that had heavily cracked pipe and that had initially caused the collapse of the line. This cleanout was not reinstated to prevent any further damage to the line. Once the lining was completed, our team installed a brand-new 6” sewer cleanout, giving easy access for future sewer roddings.
This job was a true reflection of the commitment of both teams from both companies. With complementary sewer services offered by both, every once in a while, both are able to work together to complete a job, solve problems and keep the customer happy!
