A Desperate Homeowner
Trenchless sewer repair saved the day for an Orland Park homeowner desperate for a solution to her ongoing backups. After contacting several contractors who told her they could not help her, she finally found Trenchless Innovations.
Making extensive renovations to the older home, including new bathrooms, a new kitchen and new countertops, her problems began shortly after moving in. Several contractors told her that removing portions of the new flooring and her newly-installed kitchen cabinets was necessary to facilitate repair. Other contractors simply didn’t want the job due to its size and complexity. She wanted any alternative that would prevent demolition of her remodeled home and she felt like she was running out of options.
Inspection Time!
Trenchless Innovations performed a sewer inspection from the outside clean out to analyze why she was experiencing so many issues. Our team came up with a game plan for solving the problems without damaging any of the remodeled areas inside the home.
The 3500 square foot ranch home was on a slab floor and did not have a basement or crawl space. An indoor pool was located in the back portion of the house. The four inch cast iron sewer ran under the slab from the bathrooms on each side of the house. The drain lines from both bathrooms met in the middle, running alongside the pool and to the cleanout in the backyard before heading to the city main.
Upon inspection, the cast iron pipe showed heavy scale throughout most of the pipe, with small holes also seen developing on the bottom of the pipe. The combination of the scale and the holes were slowing the flow of the sewer and causing the frequent backups.
Trenchless Sewer Repair Begins
After descaling, our team used trenchless repair methods from pulled toilets and the cleanout to install the liners. In areas where inversion lining was not possible, three layers of epoxy were sprayed onto the pipe, creating a smooth finish. The job was done over a few days, with the homeowner able to use her facilities each night after we finished.
Trenchless sewer repair fully rehabilitated her sewer, eliminated her backups and provided no disruption to her newly-remodeled home.
When remodeling, many homeowners forget that out of sight parts of the house are as old as the visible parts. Before any major remodeling job, performing a comprehensive analysis of the underground utilities eliminates surprises before the remodel.
